9-Day Hidden Jewels in Barcelona and Tenerife
Starting at
On this 9-day tour, experience the best of bustling Barcelona and undiscovered Tenerife, located in Spain’s Canary Islands. Discover all of Barcelona’s highlights that you must see when visiting the iconic city. Once in the Canary Islands on Tenerife, you’ll dine amongst the stars while stargazing in Las Cañadas National Park, home to the world’s third largest Volcano, Mt. Teide. You'll also tour La Gomera, taste authentic Canarian food and wine, and much more!
Upon arrival in Barcelona, you will be met at the airport by your private driver and taken to your hotel. The afternoon and evening are yours to enjoy!
Today is your free day to explore the city. We recommend exploring the famous Ramblas, market of la Boquería, Raval, and the little pedestrian streets in the Gothic area. We also recommend checking out the Gaudi sites in the city: Sagrada Familia and Park Güell. Afterwards, enjoy some local tapas in this magical city. In the evening, see a Flamenco show at one of the city's top venues.
Today is yours to continue to explore Barcelona at your own pace. Or, if you'd like to head out of town, ask about our optional excursion to the 10th century Benedictine abbey located on the Montserrat mountain. The views from the 1,200-foot perch where the abbey is located are spectacular. Your guide will highlight all of the wonders of this historic and architecturally-stunning monastery.
Today you’ll be picked up from your Barcelona hotel for your transfer to the airport. A short flight will take you to the largest of the Canary Islands, the beautiful island of Tenerife! You’ll be met by your private transportation and taken to your hotel in Costa Adeje. The rest of the day and evening are yours to enjoy.
After breakfast, spend the day in the northern part of the island on a private tour. You’ll start out with a drive to Santa Cruz, Tenerife's capital and one of the world’s busiest shipping ports. You will see how the city’s restaurants, art galleries, natural history museum, and striking examples of contemporary architecture all contribute to a definitively Spanish, cosmopolitan atmosphere. The day continues with a walking tour in La Laguna, which is considered to be the cultural capital of the Canary Islands. Its historical center was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999 and is known for its many beautiful churches, including Santo Domingo, the Church of the Holy Christ, and the San Miguel Chapel. Afterwards, the tour continues to Bodegas Monje Vineyard in El Sauzal for a tasting of traditional Canarian wine. Located 500 meters above sea level, the vineyard is situated on rocky ground and solidified lava from the nearby volcano. The Monje family is among Tenerife’s first wine producers, cultivating and bottling wine since 1750. At the end of the day, your guide will return you to your hotel.
Today, set out on whale and dolphin watch, one of the “must-do” activities while in Tenerife. Just a 15-minute boat ride away from shore, you'll have the chance to spot bottle nose dolphins, pilot whales, and up to 21 other marine species that are common in this area. Since so many of these beautiful creatures inhabit the waters of the Canary Islands, visitors are practically guaranteed to spot marine life every day of the year!
After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely day to yourself; relax on the beach or explore the town. This evening, you’ll visit Las Cañadas National Park, home to Mt. Teide. This park is characterized by its unique, lunar landscape and beautiful plant life. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007, Mt. Teide is an iconic attraction and a must-see for visitors. Tonight, you'll experience why Tenerife is one of the best locations on the planet for stargazing; its clear skies, low light pollution, and high altitude will allow you to see the night sky like never before.
After breakfast, board the ferry for your visit to La Gomera, an island of hidden beauty. Explore the island in chauffeur-driven jeeps, enjoying the open air and panoramic views. During your day on the island, discover Garajonay National Park and the ancient rain forest, visit small and tranquil villages, sample traditional Gomeran cuisine for lunch, and learn about the fascinating whistling language that is found only on this island. You will also have time to explore San Sebastian, the island's capital city that was once visited by Christopher Columbus on his way to discover the new world. At the end of the day, board the ferry to return to Tenerife.
After breakfast, your driver will pick you up at your hotel for your transfer to the airport. Safe travels!
