Tenerife Hosts a New Edition of the Windsurf World Championship

Tenerife will once again host the Windsurfing World Championship of the Professional Windsurf Association (PWA). The beach of El Cabezo, in the coastal core of El Medano (Granadilla de Abona) will be where it takes place, which will take place from August 6 to August 12.

The event was presented at a press conference by the first lieutenant mayor of Granadilla de Abona, Marcos González; The councilor of Tourism of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Alberto Bernabé; The councilor of Tourism of Granadilla, Maria Candelaria Rodríguez; The Deputy Minister of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, Cristóbal de la Rosa; and the Daniel Bruch Sports Club, José Manuel Morales.

For a week, the beach of El Cabezo will be the meeting point of numerous windsurfers of international projection of 18 different nationalities. Around 90 participants will take part in the event. He also said that the PWA World Cup 2017 that begins this Sunday on our coast will bring together participants from 18 nationalities in the categories male and female and junior. Alberto Bernabé took the opportunity to mention the buoy beacon project in this part of the coast with the objective of signaling the zones and guaranteeing the safety conditions to combine the use of the bathing area and the sports area. For his part, Cristóbal de la Rosa highlighted the collaboration between all the administrations to strengthen a sports tourism in the sea that brings to the Canary Islands more than 300,000 visitors a year and which, on the one hand, provides a tourist who wants something different than other tourist destinations.
